Dutch passport, ID card
Passports for Dutch citizens:
Since 1 October 2001 Dutch passports are only issued at one central point in The
Netherlands. Applications can be submitted at one of the Netherlands embassies
worldwide. It will take approximately two weeks before the passport can be
collected.
Application forms can be collected at the counter from the visa officer, or can
be downloaded from this website.
Please note that for newborn babies, Dutch laws impose very strict requirements regarding the way the first and last name of both baby and parents are mentioned at the legalized birth certificate and its translation. For more details, you can contact the consular section of the Embassy.
Since the introduction of biometrics (finger prints), Dutch citizens residing in Bahrain can no longer apply for a new passport at the Honorary Consulate in Bahrain but have to apply in person at the Embassy in Kuwait. For newborn babies, there is a special arrangement; you can contact the Embassy for more information about the procedures.
Kindly note that according to Dutch nationality law, a Dutch passport alone is not considered a proof of nationality. When you are applying for a new passport, additional documents might be required. If you haven't acquired Dutch nationality by birth, you will also need to bring the 'naturalisatiedocument' with you when applying. This is the letter that you received from the immigration authorities (IND) at the moment you obtained the Dutch nationality.
More information about Dutch passports can be found at the Ministry of Interior's website.
